Spending Quality Time with a Take-Out Box 🍿 2022

A text and performative sound piece, by Heleen Mineur

commissioned by The Grey Space, to accompany their take out box in A Three Fold (2021)

I used an ASMR-istic but piercing Intercom approach; starting with a (mis)leading welcome, Icecubes, food thoughts and popcorn being popped - ending a bit more dramatic with some poetic dread and a climax of a dishwashercyclus from start to finish.

Hereby i’m sharing a shorter version of the text*, accompanied by snippets of the recording, mostly soundscape bits**, with The Hague’s streetlights beaming in an empty space. Guests went home to eat the food and look at the livestream of the event. (oooo covid complexities - it can still give me a headache)

Melting coco

Dripping beans

I open my legs for spirulina and some kind of a b c vitamins stuck in a teddy bear

I see

Collagens and minerals

Laying on the ground pick it up for free cuz its date is due (baby)

Blue skin and brown spots make me think its bad

(but perhaps its just a sign of it being very wise)

I wonder if zoom has a snack

I wonder if zoom fatigue

has a snack

Will it be the caffeine gum

I found at aldi the other day?

I see -

licorice liquor enjoying itself in the back of the closet

I see a sprout in a very small pot making another sprout that will never be tasty

I see a homemade peanutbutter birdseed feeder lying on the balcony without ever been used

I see my fellow popcornfriends waiting to be touched - to be crunched (to be crunched deep)

I wonder

Why are the lychees stacked

Why are the kaki not stacked

Whats the anti-oxidents

waiting for you to consume

(In a few days it is my second lockdown birthday. I gotta say even though it takes stress away it is not easy to feel fabulous

I will spend a 25€ giftcard on varies kind of cheese and macademia nuts and probably a  good oldfashioned guacamole which will leave me with a garlic breath every birthday)
